Day 16- a restaurant in Zvekovica

Good evening from Zvekovica, outside of Dubrovnik, where I am about to devour a good (well, quite average in hindsight), cob-oven pizza.

I had a chill one this morning, trying to catch up on my early rise from the day before. Nothing much occurred other than writing the blog for Day 15 (ish).

.                     Old Town thoroughfare.

After a Belvita for brekkie, I caught the bus into Dubrovnik for some museuming- first stopping off at the Maritime Museum. It was a bit of a change of scenery as far as museum visits on this trip have gone. The museum was good, and was set in a beautiful setting, right by the Old Town port. After leaving the museum after a few hours, I felt a bit drained, and in hindsight, I probably should have gone back to my apartment. I definitely need to have rest days during my next holiday! Nevertheless, I still wanted to see more sights, so I went to get some ice cream (that cost €10 with a lemonade!!), and headed for the Rector's Palace (self-explanatory), which displayed artefacts and paintings relating to Dubrovnik's history, which was worth a look at if that sort of thing is up your street.

.                           Rector's Palace

Whilst waiting for transportation to head back, a young chap and his friends were trying to emulate the "one red paperclip" story, where someone made a series of exchanges that ultimately led him to getting a house, after starting off with a red paperclip. Not wanting to suppress their ambition or creativity, I gave them a tub of Pringles, and in exchange- well let's say, something that I wasn't in the market for 😂.

As a last night treat, I got a boat from Dubrovnik back to where I was staying. With surprisingly choppy waters, it wasn't quite as relaxing as I'd have hoped, and the feeling of inescapability was definitely present, as jumping from the boat wasn't a viable or sensible option. So, like the bus journey from Montenegro to Bosnia, I had to grin and bear it. I did settle once I saw the village in sight though.

It's the last day tomorrow, and I'll have about 9 hours of being unable to go to any accommodation, which could have been a trigger when I was at the restaurant, due to the fact that inflexibility may occur. Still, it'll be a beach day something I've looked forward to for the whole of the trip 😃

Til next time!

Tom :)
